Westchester Lutheran School offers a before and after school program geared exclusively for WLS students.  Our goal is to provide a safe and fun environment for our students. Daycare is available year round with special emphasis on holidays, spring, and summer. During the school year students enjoy a wide range of activities under the supervision of our Daycare Staff.

Morning care provides the students with an opportunity to enjoy quiet time by playing board games, watching educational television and videos, and getting some exercise and fresh air before school starts. Afternoon care is designed to give students a break from their academically demanding school day.  The lower campus playground is available for students to get some fresh air, exercise and visit with friends.  A light snack is provided to satisfy their hunger without spoiling the dinner-time appetite.  Parents are welcome to send snacks in addition to the ones provided by our staff.  After the break, students are required to participate in our homework time to help ease their evening load at home.  A supervised classroom is used to help students complete their work in a quiet and comfortable environment.

Congratulations to our 8th grade boys basketball team! Last night they were victorious in the semi-finals and will move on to playing in the Pacific Basin League Championship. The big game is scheduled for 6:00PM on Friday, February 3 at Windward School in Culver City (directions attached). You and your students are invited to cheer on our team. We would love to see you there!

The WLS athletic program has seen quite a bit of success in past years. Our staff, Mrs. Barbara Wittner (Athletic Director and girls coach), Mr. John Susich (boys coach) and Mr. Mark Tennyson (Golf) are incredibly committed to the program and to our student athletes. We are blessed to have such wonderful adults leading our Wolfpack Athletics. In the last 20 years these coaches and Wolfpack teams have been awarded roughly 40 championships, 20 second place trophies, and 18 sportsmanship awards.

The 8th grade boys basketball team members are:

Eric Alvarez, Bryce Barber, Emani Carter, Kevin Demedio, Joe Flanigan, Cole Quirarte, Joseph Reamer, Hunter Richardson, Jake Rogers, Riley Udagawa

The team is coached by Mr. John Susich, Zachary Lillie-Liberto (WLS Class of 2007), and Cameron Richardson (WLS Class of 2013). Six of the boys on this team played for the Wolfpack in 5th grade when the team came in 2nd place to Calvary Christian. Their 6th grade year the team played in the semi-finals against Crossroads. Last year, in a repeat game against Crossroads, they were victorious with a championship win. This brings their overall record is 57-11. Tomorrow evening they will be defending their title against a formidable Crossroads team.

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention that eight of these ten young men have been students at WLS since preschool or kindergarten, and all of them are Honor Roll or Dean’s List recipients this quarter.
